Ten Prayer Requests Folded Like Love Notes

Ten Prayer Requests Folded Like Love Notes

I wrote them
on a lined yellow legal sheet
instead of a Post-It
so they wouldn't
resist being folded
and tucked into cracks—

written in my
shaky, illegible hand
only God
could read

only ten prayers
creased with
all the sincerity
of a love letter

for the dead, living,
sick, war torn,
bereaved, lost,
found, newly born,
three for tbd
mosque, temple, church
and none for myself-
gently placed
between foundation cracks
of tombstones, hospitals,
police stations, battle field monuments,
and under the dandelion rootsthat edged the boundary of my home—
in places where no one will find them,
save God—

content in knowing
not whether
they were read or
even found—

but that
they
will
always
exist.

I really like the ending of this poem. It’s very very comforting for several things that I’ve written.. Thank you very much.
