Appalachian Funeral

Appalachian Funeral
Jonathan Miya

The church stripped of its copper,
holds mildew, broken joists,
dirty floors.

A vape pen,
a Mountain Dew Bottle, a Food City receipt
roll and drift against the doorframe.

Plywood squares
cover the broken
stained glass windows.

Semis blow by
pushing the wind
through the gaps,

dust rising
settling
over the seams.
