Her

Her

In sleep I touch a woman
whose name I’ve misplaced,

a holiday visitor with dark hair
who never unpacks her suitcase,

just sits singing to the oversized vanity
in the long, sprawling house I grew up in,

letting me brush her dusky hair
before the mirror that always conceals her face.
