I tasted rattlesnake once at the
annual Wild Hog BBQ held at
the old Ocohopee fair grounds.

It came in inch thick fork stabbed
slabs on a Hefty styrofoam plate.
It did not taste like chicken.

The hog, however, was sweet,
tangy, full of saucy squealing death,
and nothing like chicken at all.

Back home, my grounded sister,
punched me hard in the stomach.
I bit her finger, drawing blood.

Now, that tasted like chicken!
