“How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World”: The Series Finds It’s Final Beauty and Sadness

How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World, finishes the series where it should properly end— at farewell. Farewell to adolescence, to the old Hiccup and Toothless bond and dance, to home, country and enemies.

That farewell fusing into new hopes, lands, responsibilities and families is what gives the Dragon series its bitter sweetness. Fire must yield to ice and a hint that the new story to be told would be set close to a Frozen Arendelle. But then that is not how usually these Dreams Work.

Dragons as numerous as butterflies floating to a vanishing horizon was always going to be the series final shot, containing all the beauty, sadness and dying mythology. Tears and cheers are the way good movies end.

So rejoice you saw the journey. Love that it stayed glorious to the end. Take it to your heart and fly.
