Napalm Girl

Little did they know little Napalm Girl

that while your skin seared

and your cry became the shriek of war

that in fiery, fiery Dresden

would you find your finest burst

after 50 years of dropping peace bombs.

The genuine scream of a child

will change the world.

Note:

A poem based on the life of Kim Phuc Phan Thi, the Napalm Girl In a famous photo of the Vietnam War. She recently won the Dresden Peace Prize for being an activist. The foundation named and founded by her provides free medical assistance for children who are the victims of war and terrorism. Dresden Germany suffered the most horrific fire bombing of WWII. Dresden is also the backdrop for Kurt Vonnegutโ€™s semi-autobiographical novel Slaughterhouse Five..
