REVIEW:

“Red Rooms,” directed by Pascal Plante, is a chilling and thought-provoking psychological thriller that delves into the disturbing world of true crime obsession. The film stars Juliette Gariépy as Kelly-Anne, a young woman whose fixation on a high-profile serial killer trial spirals into dangerous territory.

The story follows Kelly-Anne as she becomes increasingly obsessed with the trial of Ludovic Chevalier (Maxwell McCabe-Lokos), a man accused of creating and distributing horrific videos online. As Kelly-Anne’s obsession grows, she begins to blur the lines between reality and her morbid fantasies, leading her down a dark path.

Plante’s direction is masterful, creating a tense and unsettling atmosphere that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The film’s cinematography by Vincent Biron is stark and striking, capturing the cold, sterile environment of Kelly-Anne’s high-rise apartment and the grim reality of the courtroom.

Gariépy’s performance is nothing short of brilliant, portraying Kelly-Anne with a chilling calmness and an enigmatic presence that leaves much to the audience’s imagination. Her ability to convey the character’s inner turmoil and obsession without resorting to overtly dramatic gestures is a testament to her talent.

“Red Rooms” is a haunting exploration of the darker aspects of human nature and the dangerous allure of true crime.

Overall, “Red Rooms” is a must-watch for those who appreciate a gripping and thought-provoking thriller.
