In the latest cinematic venture, Wolfs, Brad Pitt and George Clooney reunite on screen, bringing their undeniable star power to a film that promises much but delivers with mixed results. Directed by Jon Watts, this buddy comedy-crime caper is now streaming on AppleTV+.

Pitt and Clooney’s chemistry is the film’s cornerstone. Their dynamic as rival “fixers” is reminiscent of their Ocean’s Eleven days, filled with witty banter and effortless charmAd.. Their interactions are a joy to watch, providing the film with its most entertaining moments. The duo’s ability to play off each other’s strengths is evident, making their scenes together the highlight of the movie.

However, this chemistry also exposes the film’s weaknesses. The script often relies too heavily on their star power, neglecting to develop other characters or plotlines fully. This over-reliance can make the film feel unbalanced, as if it’s coasting on the charisma of its leads rather than building a cohesive narrative.

Apple TV +

The plot of Wolfs is engaging, with enough twists and turns to keep viewers invested. The premise of two rival fixers forced to work together is intriguing and provides a solid foundation for the story. There are moments of genuine suspense and clever plot devices that showcase the potential of the narrative.

Despite its promising setup, the plot often feels disjointed. The pacing is uneven, with some scenes dragging while others rush through crucial developments.. Additionally, the film’s attempt to blend comedy and crime doesn’t always hit the mark, sometimes resulting in tonal inconsistencies that detract from the overall experience.

Jon Watts brings a slick, polished aesthetic to Wolfs. The film is visually appealing, with well-executed action sequences and stylish cinematography. Watts’ direction shines in moments where the film embraces its comedic elements, allowing the actors to showcase their comedic timing.

Apple TV +

However, Watts’ direction falters in maintaining a consistent tone. The film struggles to balance its comedic and dramatic elements, leading to a jarring viewing experience at times. Additionally, the dialogue, while attempting to emulate the sharpness of Tarantino or Shane Black, often falls flat, coming across as forced rather than natural.

Apple TV +

Wolfs is a film that thrives on the undeniable charm of Brad Pitt and George Clooney but stumbles in its execution. While their chemistry and the film’s visual appeal are commendable, the uneven plot and inconsistent direction prevent it from reaching its full potential. For fans of Pitt and Clooney, Wolfs offers enough to enjoy, but it ultimately leaves one wishing for a more cohesive and engaging experience.

Wolfs get a 3.0/5 or a B.  It’s streaming on Apple+.
