We only name the heartbeats  shared

Alike heartbeats are called out in the evenings radiance:

a slouch of bears awakening from a long slumber
into the rising spring- the receding snow bringing the
feast of a winter’s kill, memories of honeyed searches.

a host of house sparrows creating nests in the corner eaves
of every Elm Street roof, far away from the doors of the
superstitious that would kill them if they flew inside.

a kaleidoscope of monarch butterflies emerging from chrysalis,
feeding briefly on the birthing milkweed, that will sustain the
mating flight, even to the spiral of their unenumerated deaths.

Alike, yet nameless, in the curl of sleep, in the moon’s shadow
brushing across their faces- swiping claws, wings, hands again
in the awakening dawn to follow the path only dreams know.

Note:

In native European folklore, it is a bad omen if a sparrow flies into someone’s house. This is considered a sign of impending death. Read more:  https://www.legit.ng/ask-legit/top/1321837-bird-symbolism-10-common-birds-meant-represent/

Love the poem, especially the title. I think that’s why we can still connect with family even if there is trouble between you. The link was very interesting. Enjoyed reading it
